Discover Nijmegen

City trip

Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands. And you can notice that from the many historical buildings and medieval alleys. Take a city walk or stroll along the Waalkade and enjoy the view over the wildly flowing river. Or relax on one of the cozy terraces. In the summer, Nijmegen is bustling with the notorious Four Days Marches festivities.

Mariken and Heaven

For a first introduction to Nijmegen, the Marikenwalk is highly recommended. This historical walk takes you past places from the time of Mariken van Nieumeghen, the 16th century. You will see city castles, inns, city gates, and almshouses, among other things. Other attractions include the Saint Stevens Church, the Kronenburger Park, and the city brewery De Hemel, where you can learn all about brewing craft beer.

Shopping and partying

In Nijmegen, you can also shop in a very special way, away from the big chains. The Van Welderenstraat has all kinds of specialty shops. In the Lange Hezelstraat, you will find exclusive stores with, among other things, antiques. Other beautiful shopping streets are the Molenstraat, Marikenstraat, Moenenstraat, and the Ringstraten in general. After shopping, you can relax on one of the many cozy terraces for a local drink. In the summer, Nijmegen is one big vibrant party. The famous Four Days Marches festival is celebrated then, and the entire region comes together to celebrate the renowned Four Days Marches.
