Discover Bruges

City trip

Bruges has a historic center that is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The city is therefore permeated with historical heritage. On the squares and along the canals, you can see magnificent monuments from the Middle Ages. Thanks to the car-free traffic, you can wander endlessly and enjoy the Gothic buildings and nice shops.

Large Market and Castle

The cultural heritage of Bruges consists of many important monuments. Originally in Gothic style, many buildings were renovated in the 19th century in the Neo-Gothic style. The Grote Markt is the social and historical center of Bruges. Here you'll find cozy pubs with terraces and the city's most famous landmark: the 12th-century Belfry. This is the 'hall tower' of 83 meters high with no less than 47 bells. From the top, you have a beautiful view of the city. In the other part of the center lies the Burg. This is the square of the former fortress, surrounded by historical buildings including the Brugse Vrije, the City Hall, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood.

Silence and Pralines

Bruges is also known for its canals or 'reien' and is therefore sometimes called the 'Venice of the North'. Take a boat tour and discover Bruges from the water. The backs of the monumental buildings offer a completely different view of the city. Afterward, you can stop for a cozy terrace or one of the delightful little restaurants at the Grote Markt. At the famous Bruges chocolatiers, you can stock up on real Belgian pralines. There are none better.
